This full-day Wine Tasting Tour from Taormina will let you visit the village of Castiglione di Sicilia as a first stop and then taste some rigorously locally-produced wines, listed among the excellences of the wine-making.
Tours are arranged in several stages:
Visit of the Medieval Village of Castiglione
It takes about one hour to get to Castiglione di Sicilia, framed in the beautiful valley of the Alcantara: this village, strategically located on a hill northwards of Etna, is ranked among Italy’s most beautiful borghi. During the free visit of the city you will see the Castelluccio, an ancient byzantine castle, the “U Cannizzu” tower, the cobblestone alleys and the several old churches, which are typical of these medieval villages. Not to be missed is the view from the Belvedere, where you will be delighted at the magnificent panorama of the Alcantara and its basaltic rocks.
Stop at the first winery
At about 11.00/11.30am you will get to the first winery of the day, where you will taste some locally-produced Etnean wines paired an aperitif based on local products. You will moreover have the chance to walk along the vineyards and see first-hand the winegrapes that originate the wines, and you will learn about their production.
Stop at the second winery
At lunchtime (about 1/.1.30pm), you will stop for about 2 hours by the second winery where you will taste more DOP Etnean wines, paired with a complete lunch based on traditional products. In there, you will have the possibility of walking in the winery, looking at the barrels where the wine you have just tasted is stored and learn more about its production.
NB: Confirmed departure with minimum 4 people. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers.
