The main attraction in Taormina is the fabulous Greek Theatre, but certanly the top thing to do in this city is hang out at the beach. Taormina itself sits partway up a hill overlooking the water, but it’s well-connected to spectacular (and popular) beaches below.
Mazzarò Beach
The most popular beach in Taormina (and one of the most popular in all of Sicily) is the Baia di Mazzarò just below Taormina. The beach in this small bay is pebbly, both on the beach and in the water, and sun loungers are set very close to each other (especially in July and August when beaches get quite crowded), but the scenery makes up for this. You can arrive on the beach of Baia di Mazzaró from Taormina center by cable car within 10 minutes.

Isola Bella Beach
By the cable car you can also reach the beach of Isola bella, just cross the coastal road and walk down the stairway. It is a pebble beach fronting the islet of the same name clothed in lush vegetation. The islet is linked to the mainland by a narrow strip of beach which is covered by water at high tide. You can find free beach sections as well as wonderful and well-equipped lidos on Isola Bella.

Spisone Beach
If you would like to have some more space and privacy then head out to the beach of Spisone which is located between Mazzarò and Letojanni. The scenery is less picturesque, but there are also less people, and prices for sunbeds and umbrellas are lower than in Mazzarò. The beach consists of smooth sand and the bay is perfectly convenient for swimming. In the water there are no big stones allowing you to bathe in the sea without any constriction. The water is crystal clear and clean.

Mazzeo Beach
The beach of Mazzeo is located between the beach of Spisone and Letojanni. It is one of the longer beaches of Taormina. The gravel beach is extensive with plenty of choice between the free zones and the beach establishments that rent loungers and umbrellas. Mazzeo is a 'suburb' of Taormina with plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants to provide services for your day at the beach.

Giardini Naxos Beach
The coast of Giardini Naxos is located to the South of Taormina. This is the longest beach of the area, and alternates sand with pebbles. Thanks to its many bars, clubs and restaurants, Giardini Naxos is also known for its night life.
The most famous beach of Giardini Naxos is Recanati, popular for its fine sand.
In Giardini Naxos there are numerous beach clubs, where you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds. Moreover a few small free sections of the seaside are free.
Letojanni Beach
The coast of Letojanni is located 6km from Taormina. Letojanni is a charming and delightfully tiny village where you can find many cafés and restaurants all close to the beach.
The beach in Letojanni is a pebble beach where there are many lidos where you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds. You can also find expanse of free beach.
